Ranger Creek Recreation Area

Ranger Creek Recreation Area has a milder climate, making it among the first of the campgrounds to open in mid-May. Four-wheel drive roads, hiking and ATV trails are close, from which trailheads into the Cloud Peak Wilderness area can be accessed. RCRA has a group site with a pavilion and picnic tables, and a large area for parking RVs and vehicles, along with grassy areas for pitching tents and playing horseshoes. Fishing and wildlife viewing are also popular activities. Shell Falls is approximately five miles from the campground on Highway 14.
