Beartooth - Red Lodge

Cascade

This host cares for Cascade (7600’) Campgrounds which is on the West Fork of Rock Creek with numerous hiking trails into the Beartooth-Absarokee Wilderness Area. Fishing and hiking are the main recreational activities in this area. The host does fee collecting, compliance checking, firewood sales, light maintenance, painting, and cleaning in the campground. This position is responsible for 30 sites. A free campsite is provided with a monthly salary of $800 for a value of approximately $1300/month; a mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities is paid for successful completion of the contract. This campground does not have hookups; hosts will need to provide their own generator (utility charges are host’s responsibility). Drinking water is available from the hand pumps. The job begins July 1 and ends after Labor Day.

 

Northeast Bighorns

Sibley Lake

Host resides at Sibley Lake Campground, located 21 miles west of Dayton, elevation 7900 feet, and cares for Sibley Lake Campground, Boat Dock, and Picnic areas. 32 sites total. Duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, and cleaning. Remunerations include a site for RV with electric and water hookups (propane charges are host’s responsibility) and $1,000.00/mo. the total package is worth approximately $1,600/month; a mileage allowance is paid biweekly and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities is paid total for successful completion of the contract. The campground is near Sibley Lake with hiking and fishing available. The job begins May 30 and ends September 20.

 

Northwest Bighorns

Bald Mountain and Porcupine

Host resides at Porcupine Campground, elevation 9200 feet, located above Lovell 33 miles on Hwy 14A and cares for Porcupine and Bald Mountain campgrounds daily. The host must haul out garbage in a trailer provided by GCC once a week. Host cares for 31 sites duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, and cleaning. Remunerations include a site for RV with no hookups (utility charges are host’s responsibility) and $900.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $1350/month; a mileage allowance is paid biweekly and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities is paid for successful completion of the contract. This area is close to the historic Medicine Wheel and numerous hiking trails, scenic drives, the old mining ghost town of Bald Mountain City and Devil’s Canyon and Sheep Mountain. The job begins approximately June 5 and ends after Labor Day.

 

Medicine Lodge Lake and Lower Paint Rock

The Medicine Lodge Lake host position cares for two remote campgrounds near the Cloud Peak Wilderness, elevation is 9300 feet, about 56 miles from Greybull, WY. Its main attraction is pristine fishing lakes and streams nearby with plenty of leisure time to try them out. The host cares for 16 sites, main duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, and cleaning. Remunerations include a site for RV with no hookups and $800.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $1,250/month; a mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities is paid for successful completion of the contract. This position begins June 19th and ends after Labor Day; the road access is 25 miles of Forest Service Road #17 (Paintrock Lakes Rd) from Hwy 14 or county roads from Hyattsville and is limited to 24' trailers or 5th wheel trailers. Motorhomes are not recommended.

 

Shell Creek  and Ranger Creek Recreation Area

Host resides at Shell Creek Campground, elevation 7500 feet, about 33 miles from Greybull, WY; also, cares for Ranger Creek Recreation Area about two miles east on Forest Service Road 17. The total number of sites is 26 with a group area and pavilion. Main duties include light maintenance, compliance checking, bookkeeping, and cleaning. The camps are located on Shell Creek about 5 miles above Shell Falls Interpretive Center. Remunerations include a site for RV with no hookups (utility charges are host’s responsibility) and $900.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $1,380/month; a mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly; and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities is paid for successful completion of the contract. Fishing, hiking, horseback riding, ATV trails are nearby. The job begins approximately May 16 and ends September 20.

 

Southwest Bighorns

Island Park, West Tensleep & Deer Park

Host resides at Island Park Campground, elevation 9100 feet, located on the edge of the Cloud Peak Wilderness 56 miles east of Worland, WY. Host cares for Island Park, Deer Park & West Tensleep Campgrounds, 27 sites total. Main duties are cleaning, compliance checking, bookkeeping and collecting and hauling garbage to Tensleep Landfill (approximately 37 miles) twice a week in a trailer provided by GCC. Remunerations include a site for RV with no hookups (propane charges are host’s responsibility) and $900.00/mo. total package worth approximately $1,380/month; a mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly; and a bonus of up to $150/month for utilities is paid for successful completion of the contract. Scenic hiking, fishing, and ATV trails are available. Meadowlark Lodge, Deer Haven Lodge, and Dump Station at Powder River Pass are located 10 miles or less. The job begins June 1 and ends after Labor Day.

 

Southeast Bighorns

Lost Cabin & Doyle Creek

Host resides at Lost Cabin, elevation 8200 feet, 23 miles west of Buffalo, WY and cares for Lost Cabin and Doyle Creek Campgrounds. Host cares for 38 sites total. This position also collects and hauls garbage to the Buffalo landfill from the east side campgrounds once or twice a week, picks up supplies, reservation notices and deposits camp receipts; and generally, acts as an assistant to the Mountain Manager for the east side of the mountain. Remunerations include a site for RV with no hookups (the mountain manager does deliver water and black water can be disposed of in the outhouse clean-out or nearby dump station) and $900.00/mo.; total package worth approximately $1,350/month. A mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly and a bonus of up to $150 a month for utilities is paid for successful completion of the contract. The area has many streams and two reservoirs and many wilderness lakes for some tremendous fishing opportunities. ATV trails are nearby on National Forest Land or many trails beckon in the Cloud Peak Wilderness. South Fork Lodge is less than 10 miles and the dump station at Powder River Pass 12 miles. The job begins June 1 and ends after Labor Day.

 

Circle Park

Host resides at Circle Park and cares for Circle Park (10 sites) and Hettinger Group Area also helps with Tie Hack campground. Main duties are cleaning, compliance checking, bookkeeping & light maintenance. Remunerations include a site for RV with no hookups plus $900/month; total package worth approximately $1,350/month. A mileage allowance is paid semi-monthly and a bonus of $150/month for utilities is paid for successful completion of the contract. This campground is located 16 miles west of Buffalo, Wyoming on Hwy 16. Circle Park Trailhead is convenient; hiking trails, horse trails, and scenic drives are close by. The job begins July 1st and ends August 15.
